The Philippines

There are more than 7000 islands in the Philippines. It is always hot there.

The capital is Manila and one-eighth (８分の１)of the population live there.

Most people in the Philippines are Christian. In the 16th century, the Philippines was under the control of Spain (スペインの支配下), and we can see old European-styled churches there. Four of them became UNESCO World Heritage sites(ユネスコ世界遺産) in 1993.
There are about eighty languages in the Philippines. The national language is Tagalog, and official languages are Tagalog and English.

"ありがとう" in Tagalog is "Salamat."
